Competitive scanBeta

See where you rank — and where rivals beat you.

A score in isolation doesn’t tell you if you’re winning. Paste your page and up to four same-type competitors, and Citerra ranks the field on AI readiness across SEO · AEO · GEO — then shows the exact signals where rivals beat you.

How the scan works

A fair head-to-head, scored the same way.

Every page in the field is rendered on our servers the same way and scored on the same type-relative rubric, so the ranking is apples-to-apples — never a tool comparing your store to someone’s blog.

01

Add your page + rivals

Paste your URL and up to four competitor URLs of the same page type — store vs. store, blog vs. blog. The comparison is only fair within a type.

02

We scan the whole field

Every page is rendered on our servers — the same engine as your full report — and scored across SEO · AEO · GEO. Apples-to-apples, true to what AI engines actually load.

03

You see exactly where you stand

Rank, gap to the leader, share of voice, and the specific signals where rivals beat you — so you know what to close first.

Why the gap matters, in numbers

Ranking against rivals in AI answers is now a measurable line item

Buyers have moved their first question into answer engines, and the numbers track it. Gartner forecasts that traditional search-engine volume will fall 25% by the end of 2026 as queries migrate to AI assistants (Alan Antin, VP Analyst, Gartner, Feb 2024). When the engine answers, it quotes a handful of sources — and the question is whether that’s you or your competitor.

AI Overviews now appear on roughly 48–60% of U.S. Google searches (BrightEdge, Feb 2026), and content engineered for generative engines can lift citation share materially — the basis of Citerra’s scoring is the peer-reviewed Princeton “Generative Engine Optimization” study. A score in isolation can’t tell you if a rival is being quoted instead of you — a same-type head-to-head can. Once you see the gap, the Citerra report gives you the paste-ready fix for every signal you’re losing on.

Answer layer

Questions worth answering plainly.

01

What is the Citerra competitive scan?

The Citerra competitive scan is a free tool from Martech LLC that compares your page against up to four competitors of the same page type for AI readiness across SEO, AEO, and GEO.

It returns your rank in the field, the point gap to the leader, your share of voice, the per-lens gap, and the exact signals where rivals beat you.

02

How does the scan score relate to the full Citerra report score?

Both use the same rendering engine on our servers, so the scores are directly comparable — there is no fast-vs-deep trade-off.

Every page in the head-to-head, yours and your rivals', is rendered and scored identically. Your full single-page report adds a few page-specific probes (like live AI-crawler access), so its overall can vary from the scan by a couple of points. The scan tells you where you stand against rivals; the report gives you the paste-ready fix for every gap.

03

Why do competitors have to be the same page type?

AI readiness is scored relative to page type — an online store, a blog post, and a documentation page are each judged on a different rubric.

Comparing across types would be apples to oranges, so the scan only runs the gap math over same-type competitors and flags any off-type URL you enter, excluding it from the ranking.

04

Does the scan use AI or share my competitors' data?

No.

The scan is deterministic and LLM-free — it reads each public page and scores it on a fixed rubric that never leaves the server. It only reads publicly reachable pages, the same way any browser or search crawler would, and returns headline comparison figures, not the underlying rubric or weights.

05

How many competitors can I compare, and how long does it take?

You can compare your page against up to four competitors.

Every page is rendered live on our servers in parallel; because that is a full render (not a quick fetch), a run can take up to about two minutes. It is free during the Citerra beta.

06

How does the AI readiness benchmark work?

**It compares your page against competitors using a deterministic scoring rubric.**

The tool renders your page and up to four competitor URLs to score them across SEO, AEO, and GEO. It calculates your rank in the field and the point gap to the leader based on specific AI visibility signals.

07

Can I compare a blog post to a product page?

**No, comparisons are only valid between pages of the same type.**

To ensure accuracy, the tool uses type-relative rubrics. If a competitor URL is a different page type than the subject page, it is flagged and excluded from the gap calculations.

08

How do I fix the gaps identified in the scan?

**The Citerra report provides the specific fixes for every identified gap.**

Once the scan identifies where competitors outperform your page, you can route to the full Citerra report. This report delivers paste-ready optimizations to close the visibility gap.
