An empty Gemini video search cannot clear a creative for publication.

Google’s agentic video understanding lets Gemini select segments to inspect across frames, audio and transcripts rather than sample at a fixed rate. My call is to use that selectivity for finding material, while keeping creative approval human-owned.

Consider a team searching a webinar for passages containing product claims before choosing promotional clips. Timestamped candidates give a reviewer places to check in context; an empty search leaves the clearance decision unresolved. Finding relevant material and establishing its absence demand different levels of confidence.

Google reports lower costs on standard benchmarks, but those figures do not establish savings for this workflow. Compare agentic retrieval with the existing static pipeline on the same videos, checking missed passages and timestamp accuracy alongside review effort and processing cost.

I favour adoption where retrieval stays dependable and total review work falls. Keep the static pipeline where missed claims require a full recheck: cheaper search loses its value when reviewers still need to inspect everything.
